The gerund as the object of a verb
A gerund clause can be the object of a verb:
Love means never having to say you're sorry.
Love means never having to say you're sorry.
I hate getting bored / celebrating birthdays * I hate being told I can't do something because I'm a girl * I hate being told what to do, especially by myself.
